The biggest league in cricket, the IPL, is just around the corner. With just more than a month left, the buzz of the mega-cash-rich league has already started to buzz the internet.
Talking about the buzz, former Indian ace all-rounder Irfan Pathan said that Kl Rahul can be used in the middle order by his franchise, Lucknow Super Giants. Kl Rahul has been opening the batting for the Lucknow-based franchise in the past season.
However, in the World Cup, Kl Rahul was seen fulfilling the role of a middle-order wicketkeeping batsman and has shown a great temperament in all forms of the game. Irfan Pathan feels that Kl Rahul should do the same thing in the upcoming IPL season.
Kl Rahul had played nine games for the Lucknow-based franchise in the previous IPL edition, in which he scored 226 runs before being ruled out of the game, which kept him out of action for the rest of the six months.
In a recent interview, Irfan Pathan was all praise for KL Rahul, saying that he is the player who can bat in any position.
Irfan Pathan said, “Kl Rahul is a car with gears that can bat in any gear from top to bottom.” Irfan said that if LSG slots Rahul in the middle order, then that gives them the option to go with both Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayers at the top.
However, KL Rahul was recently out of action in India’s second test match against England, but he is all set to get back in the side for the upcoming three test matches of the series.
The series between India and England currently stands at 1-1, with the third test between the two sides starting on February 15 in the Saurashtra cricket stadium in Rajkot.
